Welcome to win16.page! This website is dedicated to archiving and cataloguing shareware, freeware and demos of commercial games for 16-bit Windows, from Windows 1.01 to Windows 3.1 (including Win32s)! Additional downloads such as drivers, runtime DLLs and shareware/freeware utilities are also available.

A best effort has been made to archive every known version of every game that is listed on this site - clean sources (eg. no BBS-generated FILE_ID.DIZ or other files, no BBS-injected zip comments that are visible when using pkunzip -d etc.) have been located and used whenever possible. This archiving project could not have been done without DiscMaster, which has been an invaluable resource for rapidly locating and testing all downloads that are available on this site.

Minimum Windows version, CPU and supported common video modes (CGA, Hercules, VGA Monochrome, EGA, VGA, 256/65,536/16 million colours) have been documented to the best ability with vintage hardware for verification. While a number of games do not explicitly support monochrome modes, a subjective analysis has been taken to determine what games are playable on those modes - if you believe there is an error in what has been documented, please leave a comment at anywhere win16.page has been advertised. Please see the bottom of this page for the planned roadmap.

win16.page is designed for 800x600 resolution, though 640x480 is mostly compatible. There is no Javascript, CSS, PHP (apart from random game) or any other dynamic web page scripting - the entire site is generated by bash scripts in pure HTML and compatible with most Windows 3.1 web browsers. 65,536 and 16 million colour screenshots are saved in PNG format, while monochrome, 16 and 256 colour screenshots are saved in GIF format.
